Services / fractional operating partner
Fractional
Operating Partner.
01 · The Moment
The business is growing but the infrastructure that got it here was built for a smaller, simpler version of itself.
New ownership. Platform integration. Pre-exit prep. These are the moments when senior operating judgment and hands-on execution matter most. Whether an operating team is stretched for capacity, or an outside partner can aid in trust-building, we step into the gap and quickly gain traction.
02
What goes wrong
Operating partner capacity doesn’t flex with the business. A full-time hire is too much for the moment.
- The value creation plan is slow to manifest, because no one inside the business owns turning it into daily execution.
- The operating partner already assigned to the deal is covering several other portfolio companies, and isn’t able to embed in the day-to-day.
- Critical moments like diligence, value creation plan implementation, and pre-exit prep can use additional senior judgement and execution capacity.
03
What Ficus does
Take on defined operating responsibility. Stay until it’s running with you.
- Own an area(s) where the business needs senior operating expertise – org design, operating infrastructure, GTM, talent development, or financial reporting and controls – not just advise on them.
- Supplement an existing operating partner’s capacity, or stand in fully where the portfolio company doesn’t have dedicated operating support yet.
- Build trust with leadership by being in the business every week, not on a quarterly check-in cadence.
04
How we work
Same model. Sized for the gap.
- Act as the translator between deal team expectations and operating reality, including prep ahead of board meetings and deal team conversations.
- Serve as the sounding board – pressure-testing decisions and building leadership’s confidence in the calls they’re already making.
- Surface what the day-to-day doesn’t show from the outside, before it becomes a problem.
